In my personal life, I have a number of productive hobbies that help me to have stronger work skills.

⚔️Dungeons & Dragons Dungeon Master

As a DM, I have to be prepared for any situation and have a big imagination, because anything can happen when you run a game. I love to build my own worlds and add in new game systems from time to time. I’ve created extensive automated spreadsheets that have allowed me to create random event-style prizes, learned how to explain the same abstract concept in new ways, and had plenty of practice being a quick thinker and solution finder. These skills help me to keep a cool head in a tense and difficult situation - plus, exercising my creative side allows me to expand my ability to innovate.

🥊Kickboxing Coach

For a while before the gym shut down, I worked a second job part time as a kickboxing coach, where I learned proper fitness techniques. Each day we had to memorize a new set of exercises and be able to recite them in a timely manner from memory as we led the class. It improved my ability to be cognizant of my pacing and be able to juggle leading a session with keeping an eye on individuals to help them out. Plus, I love teaching others to kickbox, and have led sessions for a few of my friends - it’s a great bonding activity!

😂Improv & Standup Comedian

For many years I performed in an improv troop. I love the method and means of creating comedy within a group. It keeps me quick and ready, which in turn has helped me to be an adaptable person not just in work but in conversation. In order to do good improv, you have to be able to read the other person or persons that you are working with. I also have experience doing standup, and if you want someone who can hold up under lots of pressure, look no further than a standup comic. I’m willing to speak in front of others without fear of making a fool of myself - unless that’s the goal, of course.
